Random

Ok, I'm leaving back in a few days time, leaving Honolulu on the 3rd and get to Sweden the 5th... I've been a bit lazy with this blog lately, but here's some updates from random days and pictures...

One of the first days down the beach while standing on the queue to buy some water this random man comes up and says "do you know why the palm trees are crooking"?

While I'm thinking 'why does he asks this random questino' I say: sorry I don't know...
and he replies: because the government planted them, and the government is crooking.

Well, for those who don't know the palm trees are not naturally from here, they were actually planted :/

A random tree from Hawaii (well, I guess this one hasn't been planted too lol)

This is 'Duke Kanahamoku', he is a very important person for the surfing history and culture, he is the one who brought surfing from old school to new school...

Day 28. Snorkling and additional poker night (IV)

Today we went snorkling for a bit close to waikiki beach, and of course I brought my camera ;) so here's some pictures... I also made a small recording under water which you can see, quality was pretty suprising :) but unfortunately I didn't catch any fishes on film, however there's a random ending ;)

I know, it was sat and not wed, but we decided for a poker night anyways... anyhow, and after rebuying 3 times (spew, but it was appearently worth it), I ended up heads up against the other person who also bought in 3 times... except us two there was only 1 more person who re-bought 1 time.. so it was funny to see that the only ones that re-bought like mad were the ones ending up winning it... yup, boring as we were we decided to split the money (time was like past 2am, so pretty late) of $270 making it $135 each (but remember we also rebought 3 times, so the profit was only $85 :p)

Day 25. Poker Nigt III

Today I spent the whole day being lazy watching tv-shows and playing 'The Godfather II' on PS3...
Ok, so another week, another wednseday, another poker night... This time I managed to fight my way through, and it wasn't easy... once I went all in with A9s, there was so much dead money in the pot and my stack wasn't very big, got called by A4o, the flop came a 4 with flush draw for me but his 4 held all the way and I lost so I had to do a rebuy.. from there I got my way back to ending playing heads up against Lilis... however, it was late and she's got uni tomorrow so we decided to just split the pot which was $180, so got $90 each :)

(we play with $20 buy-in and $10 rebuy where you only get 75% of starting stack)

Day 24. Update after being without internet for a few days..

Ok, so my friends somehow "didn't get the bill" for cable&internet, so I haven't been able to update for almost a week, luckely enough there's only a few things to fill in on and some quite nice pictures :)

We wen't to a Japanese Grill Restaurant, it was pretty cool, the chef pulled of some tricks with the food and stuff flying around :D

This is a Mai-Tai, it's a really sweet drink, after a few sips it gets faar too sweet so my next order was a Pina Colada, unfortunately I didn't take a pic of it but it was really nice! I enjoyed it until the end!

The Onion Vulcano:

How to slice shrimps with a "slow motion show" in the middle!

And today Alicia took me to for a long walk to see a nice waterfall, however when we finally got there it turned out to be dry! :(

Day 18. Weekly Poker night, no 2

Ok, last week we played poker, seems like it's going to be a weekly thing, so we did it again, they play tournament/'sit&go' with 2 hours unlimited re-buy.
Yet again I did not win, well what can I say, we got one who likes to bluff and calls all the way with A-high, and then we have the other one who just loves to see the flops, even if it'll cost him an all in, yes he called me all in with 5-8, seriously!? haha... Then we have a few potential players (they at least kinda understand the value of hands)... One who can overbet the pot to a commiting size with just a draw, so you never know if he's holding a strong hand or not... Trust me it's tricky playing against them, you'll never know what they hold, I mean they will sometimes just limp (call the blinds) with very strong hands, they almost never raise! :/

Day 17. First (??) Starbucks

After walking around and getting lost in the shops area I found myself sitting outside with a coconut-mocha frappuchino and foccacia, very nice. And then I suddenly realized that this was actually the first time since I've got here that I've been at Starbucks, so you can probably imagine how much I was enjoying it (as I imaginarely was kicking myself in the butt for not being there more often), kinda sick thinking about how much I used to go to it back in UK :/
Don't worry, I'll try to not dissapoint anymore, I'll atleast try to go more often than 1 in 17 days! :|

Somewhere between days 13-16. Chinese Pre New Year and Kegstands

Don't ask me why, but appearently they we're doing some Chinese New Year stuff that night, it's supposed to be 14th of February, but guess it might be for tourists or something. This was a very busy night, appearently the first friday every month is the only day that "downtown" gets really really busy, and it was PACKED!

You know what we see on TV in Europe, kegstands and wet-t-shirt parties... well the kengstands are appearently very common for students to have, but wet-t-shirt parties not so much :( haha...

If you're a girl you better watch out, because you never know what can pop out, trust me... as you can see Lilis was dropping her pants during the process (she's been here for a couple of years and this was her first time!?!? and it wasn't easy to convince her to do it!)... we also saw someone having her boobs popping out, so girls, when you do this, remember that you'll be hanging up side down so keep your stuff tight (unless you wan't to show off of course :p)

Anyhow, I know I know, I don't like beer and I never drink beer! no need to remind me, but hey! I seriously could NOT miss out on trying it, however the beer was not too bad, the taste that I don't like wasn't too strong, so it was ok and interesting lol...
The stand is filled with ice to keep the beer cool, damn it gets cold in the throat after a few seconds!

Day 12. North Shore

We wen't to the other side of the island, so called 'north shore' where we'll be "camping" at some point.. I couldn't be asked to get down the water cuz the safety guard kept yelling to people not to get down the water unless they had fins and we're experienced, guess the waves were pretty bad ass down there... anyhow, here's some wavy pictures n stuff :)
